Europe is my absolutely favorite place to ski and snowboard! It is home to some of the most breathtaking ski resorts in the world with gorgeous mountain views, charming villages, and super long ski runs.

Below, I share some of the best ski resorts in Europe, why they’re famous, and what makes each one ideal for your next ski vacation!

1. Courchevel, France – Luxury Skiing at Its Finest

Best for: Luxury, varied terrain, families

Located in the legendary Three Valleys, Courchevel is synonymous with world-class skiing and glamorous living. With over 600 km of interconnected pistes, it’s one of the largest ski areas on the planet. Courchevel’s five villages offer options for every budget, though Courchevel 1850 stands out for its Michelin-star dining, designer boutiques, and upscale chalets.

Why ski here:

  • Massive, well-groomed ski area
  • Excellent ski schools
  • High-end après-ski and dining

2. Zermatt, Switzerland – Iconic Views of the Matterhorn

Best for: Scenery, high-altitude snow, advanced skiers

Zermatt is a bucket-list destination thanks to the Matterhorn, one of the most photographed mountains in the world. Skiers enjoy reliable snow thanks to the resort’s high altitude and glacier terrain. With slopes reaching 3,883 meters, it’s one of the most snow-sure resorts in Europe.

Why ski here:

  • Year-round skiing on the glacier
  • Long runs, including the 22 km descent to Zermatt
  • Gorgeous car-free alpine village

3. St. Anton am Arlberg, Austria – The Home of Alpine Skiing

  • Vibrant nightlife
  • Part of the vast Arlberg ski area

4. Val d’Isère, France – Reliable Snow & Endless Variety

  • Extensive terrain with something for everyone
  • High-altitude snow reliability
  • Lively village atmosphere

5. Verbier, Switzerland – The Freeride Capital of Europe

Best for: Powder hounds, freeriders, nightlife

Verbier is part of Switzerland’s famous 4 Valleys, offering over 400 km of pistes. It’s considered one of the best destinations for freeride skiing thanks to its huge off-piste areas and steep couloirs. The resort also draws a glamorous crowd, resulting in premium après-ski options.

Why ski here:

  • Exceptional off-piste terrain
  • Modern lift system
  • Trendy bars and nightlife

6. Kitzbühel, Austria – Charming & Historic Alpine Beauty
