How to Get to Skagen

Skagen is at the very pointy tip of the Jutland Peninsula in Denmark, so it is a bit harder to reach, but there are multiple ways to get there.

You can fly into Aalborg Airport, and then take a 2.5 hour train ride up to Skagen.

You could also take the train up from Copenhagen (a 6-7hr train ride with changes), or from Aarhus (a 3-4hr train ride with changes).

Another option is to take the ferry from Gothenburg, Sweden over to Frederikshavn, Denmark and then take the train for 40 minutes up to Skagen!

The train station is Skagen Station and is located right in the center of town.

What to Do in Skagen

Skagen is the beautiful northern tip of Denmark! It is at the very top of Jutland, and is known for it’s sand dunes & beaches.

Take a walk down Sankt Laurentii Vej, the main pedestrian & shopping street in the little town of Skagen, and get a bite to eat!

Walk along the gorgeous beaches of Skagen all the way out to the tippy-top point in Denmark – Grenen – where the two seas meet.

Climb up the Skagen Lighthouse and take in the views from up high.

Enjoy the beautiful sand dunes of Jutland at the Råbjerg Mile! There you can experience windswept sand dunes as far as the eye can see!

Take in authentic Danish artwork at Skagens Museum. Enjoy 1800s artwork by local artists in this renovated hotel & gardens.
