There are islands in both the northern and the southern archipelago. The southern islands are all car-free and you must take a ferry. The northern islands can be accessed by cars, buses, or by ferry.
Ferries to the southern archipelago depart from Stenpiren Travel Center in the city all year round. The entire route Stenpiren–Styrsö–Donsö–Vrångö takes about 1 hour and 35 minutes. The ferry departs twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening.
The northern islands are accessible by car, bus and bike on highway 155 towards Hisingen/Öckerö and by ferry from Stenpiren Travel Center in the city center to Hönö Klåva during summer and on special occasions.
