How to Get to Florence

Florence/Firenze is one of Italy’s most well-known cities and is very easy to get to!

You can either fly straight into Florence’s main airport, Amerigo Vespucci Airport, or you can fly into either Rome or Milan and then take the train into Florence.

Florence’s main train station is Firenze Santa Maria Novella from which you can go anywhere in Italy. It is only an 8 minute walk from the train station to the famous Piazza del Duomo!

What to Do in Florence

Florence is the capital of the Tuscany region and was the heart of the Renaissance. It is known for its masterpieces of Renaissance art and architecture. 

The most well-known site in the city is the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore. This magnificent church & bell tower was built in the 1200s and is still just as beautiful today! 

Another site not to be missed in Florence is the Ponte Vecchio. This medieval bridge crosses the river that flows through the city and is lined with luxury jewelry shops.

Piazza della Signoria is a beautiful plaza right outside Palazzo Vecchio that has cafes & restaurants you can enjoy!

Take a walk down the two main pedestrian shopping streets  in Florence – Via Roma and Via dei Calzaiuoli – and enjoy some shopping & people watching!
